Taneda
One of Capitol Hill’s best sushi bars belongs to a spot with only nine seats! Taneda Sushi In kaiseki requires reservations and patience getting a table, but when that table finally comes, boy are adventurers in for a treat. Fine-dining, artful kaiseki-style plates and omakase dinners, all chosen by the chef, because if it isn’t in season it’s probably not on the menu. A place serving small dishes in a small space is thriving since being built in 1918. Storefront isn’t much as Taneda Sushi is in the back of Broadway Alley. Walking into this Japanese bar is a trip across the Pacific Ocean and into Tokyo. The entire place feels like an upscale kitchen with an ambience fit for a movie. No wonder why this place is so sought after, the ambience alone is worth the price. Each chef will walk an adventurer through what’s happening with each dish, which is about a 20 plus small sushi meal, including soups, beef, and dessert. - Jordan Dietterich of Surfside, Florida
