2018 Diamond - Voted #3
Portland Art Museum
Founded more than two centuries ago in 1892, the Portland Art Museum is the oldest art museum on the West Coast and one of the largest museums in the United States. How’s that for an introduction into this spotlight destination? This is one place a visitor will want to block off a good two to four hours. Take a walk or ride to SW Jefferson Street and take a few minutes to enjoy the park in front of the main entrance. Enjoy it because it’s got the whole ‘Portland feel’ here, in the heart of downtown. For future social media posts, there are two paintings on the outside of the building to stand in front of: the Eiffel tower and a lady aboard a ship with a city in her background. Walk up the steps, through the door, and into more than 112,000 square feet of gallery space. Some of the art includes modern and contemporary pieces along with Native American art. Tickets will run $20, and don’t leave without stopping in the museum’s store. Grab a memento to always remember the experiences had at the Portland Art Museum. - Jordan Dietterich of Surfside, Florida
