andSons Chocolates: The Sons of Brighton Way
Beverly Hills keeps its smaller streets one block off Rodeo, where the shopping is still walking and the boxes are still tied by hand. In 1983 a mother opened Teuscher on this corner and imported Swiss chocolate for a city that wanted Europe in a shop. Her sons later parted from the imported name, kept the address, and began making everything in house. andSons is that second generation: European method, Los Angeles imagination, a kitchen in the Arts District led by Chef Sandy Tran, who came from The French Laundry. Nate Berkus redesigned the shop in 2019. Los Angeles artist Maggie Lochtenberg painted a cacao tree across the ceiling so you would know, before you taste, why you came. The guests are professionals on a lunch hour, couples buying a gift that should look like a decision, visitors who still believe chocolate can be an indoor hour and not only a souvenir.
The interior is café and atelier together. The mural overhead, the case of modern and classic bonbons, a walk-up window that pours Counter Culture espresso and Rishi tea with Farmshop pastry, a few outdoor seats for Brighton Way. You taste, you build a box, you take a coffee if the morning is the point. Seasonal collections change. The staff will adjust a selection if you ask. Two-hour parking is arranged nearby. The corner of Brighton and Camden is the luxury: Rodeo a block away, Camden’s smaller shops, the slow circuit of Beverly Hills done on foot.
What you gain here, instead of an airport chocolate wall or a brand that only prints a pretty wrapper, is a family house that learned Swiss discipline and then decided to cook. Comfort is traditional craft—ganache, dip, finish, a box that can be given without apology.
The graceful cons belong to a luxury street. Hours are shop hours, not late-night hours. The café is a window and a few seats, not a long salon. Prices are Beverly Hills prices. Guests who wanted a factory tour will look elsewhere. Guests who wanted the city’s most complete chocolate destination—one block from the most famous shopping street in the West—will be glad they turned off Rodeo.
andSons is a Citywide Spotlight Diamond Destination because it is the rare chocolatier that is both a story and a room: a mother’s shop continued by her sons, a chef from one of the country’s great kitchens, a designed interior that still smells like cacao. Choosing it is choosing making over merchandising, and an hour of shopping that still feels like care.
