Cameo Beverly Hills

Cameo on Beverwil

Beverly Hills is twenty to thirty minutes from downtown Los Angeles if Olympic and the side streets cooperate. Cameo sits at 1224 Beverwil Drive, a mile from Rodeo, a low luxury house on a residential corner rather than a Strip tower. It opened in the Cipriani era as Mr. C, a 1965 building dressed as modern European ease: pale rooms, a pool, Italian cooking, service aimed at people who already knew how to sit at a proper table. In 2023 the house took the Cameo name and a long renovation—rooms, baths, lobby, pool, fitness, the restaurant—meant to keep that European register while the property joined Hilton’s LXR collection. What you book now is that in-between: still a Beverly Hills boutique in the body, with a larger reservation system behind the desk.

The charm is the address. Beverwil is quiet enough that the stay feels like a neighborhood hotel. Interiors run toward tailored rather than theatrical: a lobby you can sit in, rooms with city or courtyard outlooks, a pool that is a pool and not a stage. Hidden gems are a table at the restaurant when the courtyard is still, a room at the back of the house away from the street, and the simple fact that Rodeo is a fifteen-minute walk if you want the errand without a valet production. Book a renovated room if the house has finished your floor. Book the pool in the late morning before the day fills.

Nearby, Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle, the residential streets toward Holmby, and Century City a few minutes south give the stay a Westside geography. Comfort is traditional hotel comfort: a made bed, a quiet corridor, breakfast that does not require a costume. What you gain instead of a rooftop scene or a mid-century courtyard on Olympic is a Beverwil house with more keys and a more formal parlor. The graceful cons are the brand question and the renovation calendar. Some floors will feel newer than others until the work is complete. Guests who wanted a fully independent letterhead will stay at Shutters or the Ranch. Guests who wanted in-city Beverly Hills rest with European posture and a walk to Rodeo will be on Beverwil.

Cameo Beverly Hills is a Citywide Spotlight Rest Diamond Destination, if you accept the LXR affiliation, because it is the polished neighborhood alternative to the Strip: close to the shops, quieter at the curb, finished for professionals and couples who came to sleep well and walk to dinner. Choosing it rather than a theatrical boutique is choosing a residential street, a pool that stays a pool, and a house that still looks like Beverly Hills from the sidewalk.
